Gender Diversity on the Board and Firms’ Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has progressively assumed a strategic role in corporate business. In this sense, the board of directors (Board) assumes preponderant role, since they make decisions about business strategy. One considerably debated characteristic Board diversity is gender, women differ from men terms personality, communication style, and values. Therefore, study analyzes relationship between CSR gender on Boards, sample European public firms. Results indicate that firms with higher percentage have practices, suggesting presence can play an important decisions, contributing to more social sustainable also suggest management teams female associate better scores, exhibit both team improve scores. From ethical perspective, socially responsible present trustworthy financial information, economic performance, which decreases risk assessment their partners remaining stakeholders. Thus, results may be interest different stakeholders, such as policymakers, investors, partners, order increase firms’ involvement CSR.
